Find your own ‘peace’ of London
London has a great energy and is very much a 24-hour City. This is amazing and addictive to some, but it can also be overpowering to others and at times, you just want to find a moment of peace and tranquility.
Discover a new side of London and have a moment to yourself. Here are some of our favourite places…
Kyoto Garden is like a little bit of Japan within London. The garden is carefully designed to reflect a Japanese garden, including stone lanterns, waterfalls and glittering Koi Carp. It’s also home to some magnificent peacocks who wander around the park at their own leisure.
A sign at the entrance of the garden asks visitors to respect its tranquility, so make the most of the peace and serenity this park has to offer.

KENWOOD HOUSE, HAMPSTEAD
An obvious choice, but well deserved of a place on this list, is Kenwood House. A classically styled Georgian villa perched on top of a hill on the northern edge of Hampstead Heath, commanding a spectacular view over the City of London.
Kenwood’s collection of old masters is a sight to behold and where one becomes physically overwhelmed in the presence of truly great art. Original art pieces by such artists as Rembrandt, as well as amazing architecture, set in glorious green gardens, makes Kenwood House a must visit place for those looking to unwind.

Just a stone’s throw away from Hammersmith Bridge, the London Wetland Centre is a remarkably peaceful part of the city. Take the opportunity to enjoy the tranquility of the marshland, lakes, meadows and gardens there. There’s an abundance of wildlife in the specially constructed birds and wildlife area.
There are daily tours organised by the Centre as well as events, such as Wildlife Photography, on all year around.

CAMLEY STREET NATURAL PARK
Amongst the towering cranes, and building sites, behind King’s Cross station, lies this slice of greenery. Within its two acres, there are a couple of particularly good spots to stop and stare: the floating platform alongside the canal and a sweet pond-side bench.

CHISWICK HOUSE AND GARDENS
Chiswick House is surrounded by acres of gardens, that could easily fill a day’s exploring; they include the Italian gardens, conservatory, temple and the magnificent lake that stretches across the grounds.
Richard Boyle, the third Earl of Burlington, designed Chiswick House, a romantic Eighteenth-Century villa and gardens, to resemble classical Italian themes. The house was a showpiece, used for entertaining and to display the Earl’s collection of paintings, many of which remain. Enjoy the architecture, history and gardens of this beautiful place.
